Lakers Make it five in a row
After two scoreless periods of hockey, including a second period in which the Lake Superior State University (9-5-3) was able to hold 17th ranked Bemidji State (9-4-0) to only three shots, the Lakers broke the stalemate with a Sault Native Marty Gurnoe scoring his first college goal at 7:30 of the third period on the power play, assisted by Trent Campbell. Mike Adamek, playing in his first game of the season, scored the game LSSU hockey is now Laker goalie Jeff Jakaitis stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced including 5 of 6 while shorthanded. BSU goaltender Matt Climie allowed 2 goals on 23 shots. LSSU was out shot by their opponent 26 shots to 23 shots. Look for BSU junior Layne Sedevie to get the nod in goal Saturday night; the Beavers are 6-0 with him in between the pipes. LSSU went 1 for 7 on the power play while BSU went 1 for 3 on the power play; Faceoffs where dominated by BSU by greater than a two to one margin 49-23.
