Lakers Salvage One Point on the Weekend

After a devastating 8-0 loss on Friday night the Lakers came out flying looking to split the weekend series against the University of Nebraska-Omaha. LSSU jumped out to an early lead with Kory Scoran connecting on the power play just 3:14 into the first period, with assists going to Troy Schwab and Steve McJannet. UNO’s Adam Bartholomay tied the game at 1-1 midway through the first period (10:51). The Lakers where able to regain the lead at 15:03 of the first period with Trent Campbell scoring his 10th goal of the season, with Colin Nicholson picking up the assist. Hobey Baker hopeful Scott Parse scored his 3rd goal of the weekend at 8:12 of the second period, marking the second time in the game that the Lakers were unable to maintain the lead. LSSU was out shot by UNO 40-32, including 18-9 in the third period and overtime. The Lakers have lost a game in which they have lead this season 14-1-5, the Lakers have failed to maintain a lead 16 times this season in 10 games, resulting in a 4-2-4 record in these games. The Lakers travel to Ann Arbor this weekend for the first meeting of the season against the University of Michigan, on February 10th and 11th. Saturday’s game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Detroit.
