Perkovich is named CCHA Rookie of the Week
FARMINGTON HILLS – Lake Superior State freshman forward Nathan Perkovich was named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week after picking up two goals and an assist in last weekend’s 3-0 and 4-2 victories over Wayne State.
Perkovich scored the winning goal on Friday, and was named the game’s first star Saturday after notching a goal and an assist. He drew the assist on Troy Schwab’s 4-on-4 game-winning goal at 17:17 of the third period.
Perkovich, a 6-5, 200-pounder from Canton, Mich., is leading the Lakers (8-4-0) in goals scored with eight and has three assists so far this season. He is tied for first in the CCHA in power-play goals with five. He is tied for sixth in the league in goals scored and is ranked No. 1 among freshmen in that category.
Other CCHA Player of the Week honors went to Miami’s Ryan Jones (offensive), Ohio State’s Sean Collins (defensive) and Michigan’s Billy Sauer (goaltender).
